Brijj.com claims to have 8 lakh registered members, including 800 CEOs
20 June, 2008
Brijj.com, a professional networking site launched by Info Edge India (Naukri.com) in August 2007, claims to have attracted more than eight lakh professionals, including 800 CEOs and 3,000 Directors, from across India as registered members in nine months of its launch. Brijj also claims that the website gets over 5,000 average registrations a day.
Sanjeev Bikhchandani, CEO, Info Edge India, has said, “We have concentrated on building a large database on the site and are in line with our expectations when we launched. Adding new features on the site, we will now take the product to the next level and focus on increasing user engagement.”
Brijj.com is based on the philosophy that everyone in this world is connected through six degrees of separation. Users can search for people by name or profession or company on the site. Brijj.com identifies the link between two people on the site. And if they fall within three degrees of separation, the users may seek introduction to others through their network. Brijj.com also allows users to ask question on the site and post answers to question related to their area of expertise.

Devyani- You are right. I do not understand design,There are a million colours and hundreds of fonts. So what if the fonts and colours of burro and brijj are similar. Are there any other elements to the design- I don't know?.
I went to a reputed design school once. But maybe I have a lot to learn about what makes a logo...
As for copying Xing, I meant Brijj looks awfully similar to Xing in sitemaps, data structure, business model etc etc..but that I am sure is a coincidence too....having worked in technology...I realise that I still have a lot to learn from Indian internet titans
Sanjeev never answered the key question of copying logos from other brands? He never answered the fact on what is so original about the site-it a copy of xing . At best it is an attempt to monetize the hugh naukri database by cross selling them other products..but why the blatant copying?
Is infoedge the internet version of Annu Malik?
Just checked the burrp logo.
There is no similarity with the brijj logo.
I dont think Burrp has copied its logo from Brijj
Jungle Brother you obviously know very little about design. I just checked the two logos and except for the font (which is limited and needs to go with the entire site) and the fact that they are 5 characters, theres nothing similar.Blue and green is very common across internet sites.
Xing, is'nt that a Europoean network?...why would I in India want to make a network of European people unless I have some business with them? If you think having a photo of a business person and some text is copying then I suggest you stop commenting on internet sites and designs.
I am glad someone in India started a professional networking site. I see the way Americans network on Linkedin and that is something that Indians on Linkedin are not doing. Majority of Americans linkedin users make friends, tie up with local partners for business, look for contacts & advice and market their services to their networks..has anyone here done that? Lets see what the future holds. Brijj needs to speeden up the engagement as mentioned by Sanjeev as well as build its brand and educate professionals in India, how to use online networks for business. Hope they can do it or they might just wither away.
Naukri have a a huge database they can use it for brijj. i dont understand y they are not promoting this brand like naukri.
hey! why have the comments stopped after sanjeev's comment.
Mouth shut!
I think he has answered all d questions at one go.
Cheers!
Keep up d good show
Thanks ... that was neat clarification to the ruckus here...
Thanks for the very useful feedback everyone.
The numbers we have quoted in our press release are absolutely true. And you have my word for it.
As a public company we do not have the luxury of being less than truthful.
Brijj does have over 800,000 registrations and they are growing at over 5000 a day.
And so far we have not spent even a rupee on promotion.
The fact is that with the huge amount of traffic on naukri, jeevansathi and 99acres it is easy for us to get one time registrations.
The challenge lies in getting repeat visits from registered users, getting people to build their networks and improving the quality of users. This is a much harder thing to do.
And we have said as much in our press release.
Our next agenda is to market the site to our registered users so as improve engagement.
We also have a continuous product improvement agenda so as to differentiate the Brijj offering from other sites.
So hopefully Brijj users will see some activity in these two areas in the coming weeks and months.
And as and when we succeed in doing that - the next stage will be monetisation.
Meanwhile do keep the feedback coming.
Sanjeev
did i just see a blip in their stock prices?
whatever...
but, really... quoting these figures was a bad move. will get more criticism and negative publicity.
Guys I tried checking up with Alexa and the figures are as below:
Alexa 3 Months Average Rank: 65,819
Change in Ranking (last 3 months): Moved up by 19,524
Reach per Million has increased by 33%
Traffic Rank in India is 3,712 (Alexa)
For a site launched a few months back - these stats are not bad. I trust key indicators take upto 3 months to reflect changes.
All the very best Brijj.com
The design does looks fresh.
Info Edge has always been decent and intelligent with numbers atleast for Naukri.com. This news is a BIG shock for all Info Edge fans! Its so apparently and obviously unbelievable. Guys you should have atleast waited for one year to finish. Its a hasty release and have really hampered Brijjjjjjj reputaion. It surely has got it into news but its more like Rakhi Sawant being the spot light for things which are known to everybody. How can you go down to such lied fo merely creating a buzz! Pity... Tch! Tch! Tch!

Wow - so much interactivity on Aloo; love this!
With an Alexa rank of less than 80000 -this figure is more than fabricated.
Please maintain some decency with your corporate image.
Thanks to this post,I recalled that I had registered on this site a long time back. I really don't know about the numbers claimed here, but I have just received one invite to connect till date.
Secondly when I log in I saw a message which states that I have 917 questions. If you go through the QnA in detail, quite often you will find someone from Infoedge either answering a question or asking one. Just to check, have a look at this particular one,its an all Infoedge affair http://www.brijj.com/qna/QuestionDetail?questionId=2286. Makes me wonder if thats linked to the KRA's of Brijj team somewhere.
Brijj is a clone of xing.com .. page by page, word by word. Shows how Naukri is indifferent and not-dedicated to this product.
My two bits:
Bit One
I don't know these numbers. If Brijj is doing these numbers than it should have page views of above a million a day. How come this is not backed by Comscore figures? How come I never received an invite from anyone for Brijj. The math does not seem to add up!
Bit Two
I always thought of Info edge as an intellectually upright company. However the Brijj logo seems to be a pirated design. Just see the website of Burrp.com and comment for yourself. The fonts are similar. Which could be coincidence , but the colour scheme is also similar. I don't if Sanjeev knew about this. But some of the designers have gotten away with scamming. Indian IP laws are too weak, so I guess the Info edge pple will get away with this
I think companies who boast about stats should be bold enough to show a screenshot of their traffic figures. But then, people still can photoshop figures...
Everybody, please compare the linkedin and brijj. Just login and compare both the side...brijj needs to do a lot of work. Team brijj have done decent job on color scheme, landing(home) page, registration and profile page. But after I logged in I see the worst page of the site... it's really bad. You guys (Sanjeev) should do something about it.
But, if they are achieving what has been told to media (5000 registrations a day) then it's a good job done.
Even of they are doing 2,500 registration a day... they are doing a great job. Though, I feel linkedin is way above :-)
Why create news by releasing unrealistic numbers !!!
Do any of these make any sense for a networking site that is just a "copy & paste" of linkedin.com and has to resort to emailers with fictitious names with invites to join their network
The figures seems unbelievable. The current traffic level of Brijj is around 10,000 visitors a day and they are saying that they get 5000 registrations.....means 50% conversion ratio???????
Maybe they have started registering profiles from naukri.com directly into brijj....which, if they r doing can be a good strategy for the seeding activity & can get the complete registered userbase of naukri.com
