Ideacts Innovations, which has developed a desktop interface application Clinck, has raised $5 million from Sequoia Capital. Clinck aims to provide cyber cafe users shortcuts to internet browsers, messengers, search, news, entertainment and online storage, as well as advertisements from various companies.

Ideacts Innovations has partnered with 625 cyber cafes to install the Clinck application on their computers. In return, the company will pay the cyber cafe owners a fixed amount every month. Ideacts has also attracted 45 advertisers who will advertise through Clinck application.

Ideacts is currently operational in eight cities -- Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Pune and Bangalore -- and plans to enter tier-2 and 3 cities in 2009. The company expects to have about 3,000 cyber cafes and 200 advertisers by December 2008, according to Rudrajeet Desai, co-founder and CEO, Ideacts Innovations. [Source: Business Standard]

Reliance Web World - 254 Cafes - Pan India
Sify I Way - 1800 Active Cafes & Numbers Going Down
White Labelled Cafes - 180000 Cafes Across India

Guys... Come of it... Sify & Reliance are two BIG Players and NO Doubt abt it. But the edge Clinck has it, that they are not Imposing any conditions (Read Money also) and yet paying them. Ask Sify for this and they will think of taking money from Cafes to share a chunk.

by sagar on 04 July, 2008

think the focus will make the difference compard to to other chains + big market.

by sagar on 04 July, 2008

the + could be in their focus . sify / webworld seem to b focused on other isp products via their franchise chains n they are small in number compared to total possibl cafes.

Reliance and Sify can always use the inventory Ideacts has to display the ads in their respective cyber cafes.

I don't believe the $5m number for the simple reason the VCs give one number to the public and do exactly the opposite. They like to look "bigger" than what they are. Usually they sign up for "upto $5m with first right of refusal".

@oreo: sify & reliance does the same and my point was since they have such a long chain of caffe's how will clink survive

by India Travel Guide on 03 July, 2008

Well so if they are unable to connect with Cybercafes to buy in they fail?? How are they planning on contacting these guys?
I have an idea. Just by having these cybercafes sell packages from IdiscoverIndia.com might add another revenue stream for them. So maybe these guys can tie up with us as and add on facility for their Cybercafe tie-up partners to make money.

@lol: they're not getting into the cyber cafe business....they're leveraging/boosting it!

by lol on 03 July, 2008

won't work....sify has the largest chain of caffe's across india and with reliance also in the game ....it wll be tough

by niyogi on 02 July, 2008

good good idea - a smart bricks-to-clicks solution to bridge cybercafes with online advertising.
