Miyowa raises $8 million in 2nd round of funding; plans to expand in US, Asia

France-based mobile instant messaging company Miyowa has raised $8 million in a second round of funding from Techfund and Credit Agricole Private Equity. Miyowa had previously raised $4.7 million in September 2006 from Techfund. The new round brings Miyowa’s total funding to $12.7 million.
Miyowa is planning to use the new funding to accelerate commercialization of its existing products, bring to market a new mobile instant messaging solution and expand operations into US and Asia.
Pascal Lorne, CEO, Miyowa, has said, “With the new financing and the addition of Sergio De Acha and Tom Huang to lead our US and Asia expansion efforts, Miyowa will look to address these market needs, and deploy our mobile innovations globally.”
